Toyota Safety Sense Packages:

Toyota Safety Sense C features three proprietary active safety technologies, and combines a camera and laser radar for outstanding performance and reliability. The package can help prevent or mitigate collisions in a wide range of vehicle speeds.
  • Pre-Collision System (PCS)
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
  • Automatic High Beam (AHB)

Toyota Safety Sense P combines a camera and millimeter-wave radar for enhanced performance and reliability. In addition to the three active safety technologies featured in the TSS C package, the Pre-Collision System offered with this package includes a pedestrian detection function. Toyota Safety Sense P also offers Radar Cruise Control functionality.

Pre-Collision System (PCS)


With TSS-C, Pre-Collision System detects the vehicle in front of you with an in-vehicle camera and laser. When it detects an impending collision, it prompts you to break using both audio and visual alerts, and if you still don’t respond quick enough, the Pre-Collision System applies the brakes for you using its Brake Assist system.

Lane Departure Alert (LDA)

The Lane Departure Alert senses when you begin to sway from your lane to the next, alerting you with both an audio and visual alert. Hear or see the alert and carefully center yourself back in the lane; but if you drive a TSS-P equipped vehicle with Electronic Power Steering, you also benefit from the Steering Assist function which determines when a vehicle is drifting off course and uses corrective steering inputs to push you back on course.

Automatic High Beams (AHB)

High Beam

Available in both TSS-C and TSS-P, Automatic High Beams greatly increase nighttime visibility without impeding on other driver’s visibility. Using an in-vehicle camera, Automatic High Beams detects the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles and then automatically switches between high and low beams as appropriate.

Pre-Collision System With Pedestrian Detection Function (PCS w/PD)

The Pre-Collision System detects the vehicle in front of you, but with the TSS-P package, it may also help to detect a pedestrian in front of your vehicle. If the Pre-Collision System senses that the possibility of a collision with a pedestrian is high under certain conditions, it prompts you to brake using audio and visual alert. If you do not act fast enough, the Brake Assist will be applied.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)

High Beam

TSS-P equipped vehicles include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control uses a constant speed cruise control, helping vehicles travel at a consistent speed set by the driver, and with its vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode, it also helps you maintain a safe distance from the vehicle before you; it slows down when it notices the vehicle in front doing the same, and then readjusts your cruise control back to its intended speed.
